Aus Lock & Safe Company assisted with the opening of an older style safe that was inadvertently locked due to multiple entry attempts following resetting of the code and not being able to locate the key that by-passes the code. I then decided to update our safe and ordered a new one, which was delivered in under 24 hrs to our front door.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you make all my house locks work with just one key?

Yes! This is one of our most popular residential services, known as being "Keyed Alike." We can often reconfigure your existing deadlocks, entry sets, and even screen door locks to operate on a single key. This reduces "key jumble" on your keychain and simplifies your life without compromising security. If your current locks aren't compatible, our technicians can recommend high-quality, matching hardware to bring your whole home onto one secure system.

I’ve just moved into a new home; should I change the locks or rekey them?

For a new home, rekeying is usually the most cost-effective way to ensure total peace of mind. When we rekey your locks, we change the internal pins so the old keys (held by previous owners, real estate agents, or cleaners) will no longer work. You don't need to replace the expensive handles or hardware unless they are damaged or outdated. We recommend a "New Home Security Audit" to ensure your hardware meets modern safety standards and insurance requirements.

Are smart locks and digital handles secure enough for my front door?

Modern smart locks from reputable brands like Lockwood or Yale are exceptionally secure when installed by a professional. These systems offer encrypted "rolling codes" and eliminate the risk of keys being hidden under doormats or stolen. Many of our residential clients choose digital locks for the convenience of remote access, temporary "guest codes" for tradespeople, and the ability to check if the door is locked via a smartphone app. We only install smart hardware that features a mechanical override to ensure you are never truly locked out.

Will my current door locks meet my home insurance requirements?

Most Australian insurance policies require a keyed deadbolt or deadlock to be fitted to all external doors to provide "minimum security" cover. If your home is burgled and your locks don't meet the standards specified in your PDS (Product Disclosure Statement), your claim could be denied. Aus Lock and Safe provides and installs hardware that meets or exceeds Australian Standard AS4145.2, ensuring you remain fully covered and your family stays protected.

How can I secure my sliding doors and windows without making them look "ugly"?

Security doesn't have to ruin your home's aesthetic. We stock a range of sleek, low-profile patio bolts and window locks that match your existing frames (Black, Silver, White, etc.). Sliding doors are the most common entry point for intruders because they can often be lifted off their tracks; we install specialized "anti-lift" devices and keyed bolts that provide maximum resistance while remaining nearly invisible to the eye.
